20 Fall Craft Ideas for Seniors
With the changing leaves and incoming colder weather, now is a great time to celebrate the Fall season with a fun craft!
Between pumpkins and orange colored leaves, to football and wreaths, there are plenty of Fall craft ideas your senior loved one could do! Check out our list of Fall crafts for your loved ones to try.
Fall Crafts for Beginners
If your loved one is new to crafting, they could start off with a fun and easy-to-follow craft. Check out some ideas below.
Coloring Sheets. An easy fall craft idea is coloring a fall-themed coloring sheet. There are plenty of free coloring sheets you could print off and color, as well as many coloring books that are not too costly at the craft store. From turkeys to squirrels, to pumpkins and flowers, your loved one is sure to find a coloring sheet they will enjoy!
Drawing a Pumpkin. Another fun idea is to have your loved one draw their very own pumpkin! They could draw with crayons, colored pencils, or markers, and have fun decorating and personalizing their pumpkin. There may also be some still life drawing classes in the area to help seniors learn how to draw better.
Fall Craft Kit. Stores such as Target and Michael’s are filled with a variety of easy-to-follow Fall craft kits. Your loved one could choose from pumpkins, candy corns, apples, leaves, and more. The best part is that all of the necessary pieces are included!
Hand Turkeys. Around Thanksgiving, your loved one could make a hand turkey. All you would need is construction paper, markers or crayons, and scissors. They could decorate the Thanksgiving table with the hand turkey they created.
Apple Craft. If your loved one cannot go apple picking, they can make an apple craft. To make an apple craft, cut or tear red construction paper and glue the pieces to a paper plate. Finally, glue a brown rectangle-shaped piece to the top.
Scarecrow Craft. There are several scarecrow craft kits that your loved one could use to make a scarecrow craft. For example, there is a paper tube scarecrow craft kit which includes straw, foam pieces and googly eyes.1 This could be another great edition to the Thanksgiving table.

Bracelets. Another craft your loved one can do is make bracelets! They could use fall colors such as orange, black, and purple beads to make a great fall-themed bracelet. They could also add charms, such as pumpkins and leaves, for another fun look.
Fall Stencil. Stencils can be a very versatile tool to make fall crafts with. For example, you could color a pumpkin stencil over a piece of paper, or paint over the stencil on a block of wood. Your loved one can be as creative as they desire!
Coloring Tablecloth. Does your loved one enjoy coloring? If so, they could color a tablecloth. There are many fall and Thanksgiving-themed tablecloths seniors can color. Once they are done coloring, they could decorate their table with it.
More Creative Fall Crafts
If your loved one wants to do more creative crafts, there are a variety of fall crafts they could do to show off their artistic side. Here is a list of more creative Fall craft ideas.
Fall Bag. To start off, seniors could decorate a white reusable bag. They could use a stencil and trace a Fall design, or come up with their own. When they are done, they could give it to their grandkids to use on Halloween, or keep it for themselves to use while shopping.
Painting a Pumpkin. If your loved one wants to customize their pumpkin but does not want to carve it, they could paint it instead. They could paint their pumpkin a solid color or paint a spooky face. There are so many creative ways your loved one can customize their pumpkin!
Candy Corn Craft. Is your loved one a fan of candy corns? If so, they can paint a candy corn craft. Simply take a white Styrofoam cone and evenly paint white, orange, yellow on it. After it is done drying, seniors can use the candy can as a Fall decoration.
Flower Pot. Does your loved one love mums or sunflowers during the Fall months? If so, they could have fun painting a flower pot. They could paint fall-themed decorations such as pumpkins or leaves, or they could come up with their own pattern and design!
T-shirt. Is your senior loved one a football fan? If they are, they can design their very own t-shirt based off of their favorite team. It can be something simple as drawing with fabric markers, or something more complicated such as ironed-on patches. The options are endless!
Design a Wreath. If the senior you know likes to decorate for the Fall, then why not create their own Fall decoration? If they are looking for something easy-to-do, they can make their own wreath using a Fall wreath making kit. For seniors wanting to customize their wreath, they can add Fall decorations to a plain wreath.
Decorate a Mason Jar. A fun way to decorate for Fall is decorating the inside of a mason jar. For example, your loved one could add leaves, miniature pumpkins, acorns, and LED lights. Once completed, your loved one can put their mason jar on a side table, or use it to decorate their dining table.
Create a Garland. Another example of a Fall craft your loved one could make is a garland. They could go to the local craft store and buy twine, artificial leaves, and pom poms for example. They could even string LED lights to make the garland come to life.
